I am going skiing this weekend so what better time (and tie in) to talk about House of Snowball, a chic Melbourne duo designing lace trimmed cuffs just around the corner from me.

Far from the snowfields of Hotham and Falls Creek, mother and daughter design team Louise and Kristie Coakley are creating their own kind of magic in South Melbourne – and it’s going straight to the top.

Featured in Vogue UK’s September editions – the ONLY edition anyone wants to be photographed for – Louise and Kristie are thrilled to report their designs have been worn on two well know models and shot by the fabulous Mario Testino.

The House of Snowball girls tell us about their gorgeous new Parisienne style boutique and salon on Coventry St, South Melbourne, that will re-open for the new season on September 2.

Featuring an exquisite new collection of one-off couture pieces for the Snowball Maison de Couture line, as well as the House of Snowball ready-to-wear and accessory collection, the store will also have co-ordinating couture accessories, such as the cuffs, collars, neckpieces and cummerbunds.

The dramatic cuffs featured in Vogue were created using a mixture of vintage laces and modern silks including a pair made with lace from as far back as the 1890’s. They are a great example how small and beautiful couture items can be incorporated into a modern wardrobe.
